Project CAFN8

Project CAFN8

Our goal for Cafe Racer Coffee Company is more than just selling amazing coffee to automotive and bike enthusiast. We want to be on the front lines, fighting for what we know this community can be. To do that, we're building a cafe racer like no other.

THE HUNT
We knew from the start we wanted to go with a classic bike from the 70s for our build. The Honda CB series seemed like the obvious answer with the amount of parts readily available along with the online support of other Honda owners. So we went to Facebook marketplace and found out fairly quickly that finding an untouched Honda CB that wasn't abandoned for 20 years was like finding a needle in a hay stack. We searched 20 miles, 50 miles, 100 miles, then 200 miles away to try and find the perfect bike. After 2 months of searching, one bike finally caught our attention.
There she was, in the heart of Washington, DC, a 1978 CB750k. All original, besides the 4into1 KerKer exhaust. Faster than a 21 year old on a liter bike, we grabbed our trailer and headed to DC.
8 hours later, she was ours.
THE BUILD
It didn't take long until the tear down began. First, the motor was completely torn apart and rebuild by  Diligence Automotive.
Next, the tank went off to High Impact Body & Paint where we locked in a deep black metallic with dark mocha flake.
Once those 2 pieces of the puzzle was complete, the bike came back home to its inevitable faith of being once again torn apart and cut up. The stock air box was replaced with a K&N pod filters, the carbs were re-jetted, and the bike was dyno tuned. All the lights were changed to LED, including the new 7" round headlight.

Next, with the help of P a n d e m i c FAB, we upset all the purists by cutting the rear frame and adding the new TUFFSIDE seat and hoop.
With the final major complete, we started to clean up all the little things on the bike that was not 100% needed. With clip on replacing the handle bars, the top triple tree clamp was replaced with a Moto Cognito billet version giving the bike a much cleaning look.

Lastly, the wheels, motor, forks, and more all went from 44 year old silver, to gloss metallic black.
As for now, the project is at a point where we can enjoy it and start planning rides. As we all know, no project is ever complete.
